Three children, two boys and one girl, run joyfully down a sunlit forest path surrounded by green trees. With the boys shirtless and the girl in a sleeveless top, their laughter echoes through the woods, embracing nature's connection for a happier life.

I know what it feels like to care so much it hurts
—to feel like no-one else sees what you see—
and to be frustrated by not having the words to clearly explain it.

That’s where I was 28 years ago.

I had just gotten my license to practice occupational therapy and I became a new mom.

Everywhere I turned, modern life tried to dull my connection with my child and silence my voice.
My daughter’s differences were seen as problems to be fixed instead of unique traits to be embraced. Her fire and passion were labeled as "too much."
I wasn't sure how to keep her light alive while navigating her strong emotions, intense opinions, and passionate needs. I read all the books, took all the courses, but found only half-truths and formulas that rarely worked.

Then, a transformative moment with my daughter and nature changed everything, and the Nature-Led™ Approach was born. Almost 30 years later, after a lifetime of helping families find joy and harmony, I offer this approach to you.

I'm Kathleen Lockyer

I've spent nearly three decades transforming lives with the NatureLed™ Approach — rooted in my deep connection to the natural world, and my expertise as an occupational therapist.

I teach parents, educators, and caregivers how to harness the healing power of nature to nurture children's growth and well-being while healing yourself.

Because

when children feel connected, understood, and valued,
they thrive in ways you’ve never imagined.

The best part?

You don’t need specialized programs, endless resources, or even a vast knowledge of nature to get started.
All you need is the willingness to explore and embrace the wisdom that nature offers.

The human family is here because our ancestors built a relationship with nature.
It’s time we rebuild and re-member that relationship.

I teach the Nature-Led Approach to help others re-connect their neurology with nature for a thriving future.

I hope you will join me on this journey.

In love and connection,
Kathleen

I believe that

Every child (and parent) deserves to have
connective experiences in nature
with people who love them and believe in them.

For almost three decades I've facilitated life-changing experiences. I've worked with leaders in the nature-connection field and families like you to relieve the stress of modern overwhelm, reduce negative behaviors, and create positive lifelong connections for a better future.

In Gratitude and With Respect

I send thanks to the wisdom keepers of the Haudenosaunee people

for offering the human family the "words before all else."

Honoring all our relations:
the people, the earth,
the waters, the water beings,
the mosses, mycelium and fungi

the insects-reptiles-amphibians,
the low lying plants,
the four-leggeds,
the trees,
the birds, the winds

the sun, moon, stars, the directions,
the storms, all things not mentioned
and the spirit moving through all things connecting us all as one

WILD INSIDE: How Nature Support's Your Child's Mental Health and Restores Yours

"Kathleen Lockyer is a hero of mine, bringing a gentle, persistent, beautiful voice to the new nature movement."
—Richard Louv, Bestselling Author of Last Child in the Woods and Co-Founder of the Children & Nature Network
Where many parenting books focus on the benefits of outdoor play, Wild Inside reveals why those experiences matter on a neurological level—showing how the human brain is literally wired to receive nature’s signals.
